Landscape Description:
The landscaping is a simple design but it accents a clear look at the building. There are currently wild coffees that can handle the wet soil and matching firebush shrubs on both sides of the east end of the sidewalk that leads to the bookdrop. In front of one of the firebush is a fiddlewood that loves being out in the sun – please smell the little white flowers! There is a Simpson stopper in front of a window on the east end of the building and that has been there for many years and there are more Simpson stoppers as a hedge all along the north side of the parking lot. By the front door we have our state tree, a Sabal Palm that had volunteered in the right spot. One String lily near the drain from the roof gutter is very happy.
Challenges:
The large amount of rainwater from the gutter system in the area prompted replacement of coonties with wild coffee plants.
