Unique Features and Wildlife: Native Butterfly Flowers incorporated edible plants such as Flatwood plum trees, Mulberry trees, and native blueberries. We’re excited to watch them grow and try some of the fruit.

We receive lots of visits from birds, bees, butterflies, squirrels, and bunnies. Black racers love the backyard and at night we’ve seen a bobcat in the front yard on our outdoor camera.

Landscape Description: As soon as we moved into the house, we knew we wanted lots of native plants out front as a living screen to block out sights and sound from the busy street. Native Butterfly Flowers did a wonderful job creating a design that implemented varying layers to achieve this, including a walking path around the existing Sabal Palms. They also made sure to consider our septic drain field, which is out front. We have a variety of ground cover, wildflowers, bushes, and trees. Phase two of our native landscaping will be planting the beds along the house and near our front entryway. In the backyard we have some mature Long Leaf Pines, two baby Willow Oak trees, and a Gumbo Limbo. We are excited for them to create shade and attract wildlife.

Challenges: Before the native plants were installed, the existing grass had to be solarized. We had lots of invasive weeds (such as torpedo grass) in the area to be planted. The area was solarized for 3-4 months and it killed most of the grass/weeds.

Parking Restrictions: Please pull into the driveway and park in the backyard. The driveway wraps around to the back of the house.
